If there’s one thing we here at Record Overplayed
can’t resist, it’s a moving melody. Not only do North
East trio The Restaurant have such delights in
abundance, they also serve up a dazzling array of delicious harmonies
which are demonstrated perfectly in new EP track Coming Home.
Stephen, Daniel
and Matthew first came to our attention last year
when they played a prestigious support slot to the wonderful Duke
Special in Newcastle, after which we were unable to shift their
stirring songs from our head. Tonight they’re opening for
The
Sonic Hearts and, if ever proof of their ability to write a
cracking melody were needed, it’s the fact that even the heavily
eyelinered 16 year olds waiting for the headliners have stepped
away from the barrier to dance energetically along.

The specials on this evening’s mouth-watering menu
are the frankly wonderful, piano-led Hiding In The Library and
lead EP track Misadventures, where Stephen’s distinctive
vocals are reminiscent of Squeeze at their most summery, and where Matthew’s
harmonies are to die for.
Be sure to make a booking to see this band, for not only
do The Restaurant deliver, they also offer a take away of tunes that will
keep even the hungriest of music fans coming back for more.
Many thanks to Daniel. Visit www.the-restaurant.net
