Ash
Gig Review by Lindz / Photos by Kev
Sunday 22nd February saw the mighty Irish rockers
Ash return to the live circuit after a brief hiatus following the
release of their critically-acclaimed album Free All Angels
in 2001. The venue of choice to kick off a 12-date tour of small
clubs was the Pitz, at the Woughton Centre in Milton Keynes.
Playing a set mainly taken from new album Meltdown,
released in May, frontman Tim Wheeler had the Pitz audience hanging
on his every word as each new song was introduced. Throwing in a
few oldies for good measure, Ash turned out an immaculate performance
of Shining Light and took us all back to the heady days
of Britpop with Goldfinger and A Life Less Ordinary;
standout tracks from the new album being Renegade Cavalcade
and the new download-only single Clones (released on 25th
February – Ash Wednesday, geddit?!). |
