PEPPERCORN - Barefoot
Review by Dawn
Armed with her acoustic guitar, three-piece band and intriguingly intuitive
songs, Peppercorn has been supporting Darius on his recent
tour and winning over the crowds with her sassy mix of folk rock and striking
pop melodies - no mean feat when you're faced with a predominantly female
crowd desperate to see their Pop Idol prince. The Times described
her as feisty - a term thrown at almost every female singer-songwriter
at some time or another - but for Ms Peppercorn it's extremely accurate;
her short but captivating set showed a woman who obviously enjoys every
moment up on stage, but is determined to succeed - whatever it may take.
Admirable sentiments indeed, and with wonderfully melodic upbeat anthems
like I Care and single Hyperventilating, not to mention
a stunning, honey-toned voice, she deserves to go far.
