GOOD SHOES – Small Town Girl (Brille Records – 26/11/07)

Small Town Girl is an intriguing tale about a young lady from “humble beginnings” who, despite having ended up in Hollywood, apparently doesn’t know that she’s “got it made”. Rumours abound that the girl in question is a certain Keira Knightley, but let us not digress from the music...

There’s a definite touch of Ray Davies about this, thanks to the catchy vocals and the storytelling style of the lyrics. There’s also the most adorable guitar riff heard in a long time, so don’t let the Keira rumour distract you too much, otherwise one of the best singles of the year might just pass you by.
