CORPORATION:BLEND - Chapter
of Accidents (Angry Liberal, 06/09/05) For a band who "exist largely on the net and by word of mouth", Corporation:Blend are certainly causing quite a stir - and on this evidence it's not difficult to see why. Their influences may be hard to pin down and their music hard to categorise, but after a few spins of the Chapter of Accidents EP you suddenly find yourself unexpectedly swept up in their brilliantly explosive, erm, blend of spiky guitars, venomous vocals and fizzing electronica. Had the (frankly lovely) Christopher Eccleston ever invited Corporation:Blend to be the house band on board his Tardis, the frenetic Be The Weapon would be the result - a contemporary Doctor Who theme to play air guitar too. Like second track Mathematician, it's a ball of fire just waiting to explode; a succinct recorded example of the "musical bedlam" referred to by a reviewer of one C:B gig. Proving that once in a blue moon they do recognise good
music, MTV recently shortlisted Corporation:Blend as one of Europe's most
promising new rock bands. So whether you investigate one of their compelling
and confident live shows or are simply content to buy the EP and let Dexy's
wonderfully resonating Too Rich For Water... basslines hypnotise
you, just make sure you check out the glorious Corporation:Blend in some
shape or form. It'll be your loss if you don't. |
